Best and Worst TV Shows of 2008

(Re-posted from PopSyndicate.com)

BEST TV SHOWS OF 2008

1. Battlestar Galactica – Still the Best. Show. On. Television.

2. Lost – I’m so glad it got better again. “The Constant” was one of my favorite episodes of all time, for ANY show.

3. The Daily Show/The Colbert Report – I didn’t get sued for putting them together last year, so I thought I’d do it again. With the election, it only got better.

4. John Adams – Unbelievably good in every way.

5. Chuck – This show started out good, and continues to get better.

6. The Office – Starting to lose some steam, but still top ten for sure.

7. Psych – I still love this pop-culture-reference-laden detective spoof and look forward to seeing it every week.

8. The Venture Bros. – Maybe it’s just because I’m such a comic book/sci-fi/pop culture geek, but I can’t get enough of this hilarious cartoon.

9. Big Bang Theory – Again, this may not be so great for the average viewer, but since I’m so often “in on the joke” when it comes to these four nerds, I laugh out loud every episode.

10. Boston Legal  This show really went out with a Shat-tastic bang.

WORST TV SHOWS OF 2008

1. Reality TV – Yes, all of it. The whole genre: the Survivors, the American Idols, the stupid-ass game shows, and the follow-some-idiot-around-with-a-camera shows all deserve to die a long and horrible death. Even the ones I used to watch for fun, like Last Comic Standing and Who Wants to Be a Superhero? are too bad to watch now.

2. Knight Rider – I honestly didn’t think they could do worse than the cheesy original, but, man, did they succeed.

3. According to Jim – As long as this sucktastic show is on the air, it will remain on my “Worst of” list. Especially when so many GOOD shows get cancelled while it somehow survives.

4. Two and a Half Men – Why am I picking on this show again? It may not be quite as bad as some other shows, but the other shows that suck don’t win Emmys.

5. 90210 – Seriously? SERIOUSLY? See Knight Rider above, and multiply it by ten.

One Response to “Best and Worst TV Shows of 2008”

  1. I know some people are wondering why certain shows like The Wire and Mad Men aren’t on my list. The truth is simple: I haven’t seen them. I know I should watch them, but there are only so many hours in the day, and by the time I heard how good they were, there would have been too many episodes to catch up on. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to see them in repeats or on DVD.
