I admit that I have to plead ignorance of several of the older/non-rock guys on this list, but when it comes to most of them, I think I know their work pretty well. Clapton should be higher than 10. And George Harrison a better guitarist than Jimi Hendrix? THAT is a joke. 50: Greatest Guitarists Ever – LA Times Magazine.

the list is alphabetical…. not in order of skill
Ah, thanks. I guess I should have noticed that. Although, in my defense, the fact that their poll asks if you agree with them and says if you don’t, then “tell us who’s better” and provides a list of the same 50 to vote from. Either I don’t understand the purpose of the voting, or someone at the LA Times made the same mistake I did…
I was just looking at the comments over there, and I don’t feel too bad about not realizing it was alphabetical. About fifty other people made the same mistake I did. Really bad presentation of information, and a misleading poll to boot.
It states at the top of the piece that it is alphabetical and was pretty apparent from Allman to Zappa. The purpose of voting was to see who viewers thought the best was as selected by a panel of DJs and musicians. See the results of the voting polls here:

First, I apologize for not realizing when you first commented that you had edited the piece. I did admit that I should have noticed it was alphabetical, but I didn’t, and from the comments it appears a lot of others didn’t either. It might have been more apparent if it was a simple list rather than the format it was in. I guess it’s my own fault, but when I’m jumping around from link to link, from Facebook to Twitter, and whatever else, I’m not usually paying as much attention to something like that as I would if I were simply reading an article in a newspaper.
Also, I tried to vote several times and couldn’t get it to work. I’m sure that has nothing to do with you, but it did sour me a bit on the whole thing. Anyway, despite my initial screw up, it’s a good list, and I like the way most of the voting turned out. Thanks for pointing it out to me.
