The good news is, Disney bought Lucasfilm. The bad news is, Disney bought Lucasfilm.
After wavering for years on whether or not there would be sequel films for the Star Wars series, it’s finally out of George Lucas’ hands. I love that Disney didn’t even wait for a separate announcement from the buyout news to say there’ll be a new Star Wars film in 2015, since that’s what fans really want, and the universe is too good to be left behind. On the other hand, Disney, one of my least favorite multinational conglomerates, has now purchased another one of my favorite media giants (the others being Pixar and Marvel). So what’s a fan to do? I guess hope for the best. Disney’s purchase of Marvel certainly didn’t do anything to hurt the Avengers movie, and I’d be happy to see Star Wars get the same treatment.
