I just watched the new trailer for The People vs. George Lucas, which is going to premiere at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin next month, and I’m actually in it. It’s basically the same rant I did about Jar Jar Binks here on my blog several months ago.
You can watch the trailer here: The People vs. George Lucas Trailer 2
My friend Shawn Granger (@MrGranger to those who tweet)’s awesome graphic novel about his real-life family members who were serial killers is not to be missed. Family Bones Volume 1 is on sale for 15% at Amazon here. Please RT & promote on your own website.
I finally finished reading Harry Connolly’s Child of Fire (I’m a slow reader and I’ve had a lot going on with my own book), and I can definitely see why Publisher’s Weekly named it one of the best books of 2009. This story grabs you by the throat on page one and doesn’t let up for a second. The characters and setting are rich, the story is suspenseful and exciting, and the Twenty Palaces world Harry has created is fascinating and mysterious. I can’t compare it to the Dresden books like a lot of people have since my entire Dresden experience is limited to one episode of the short-lived series on Sci Fi, but I can’t imagine a similar series being much better than this. I will, without a doubt, be picking up this entire series. In fact, I almost wish I didn’t read the first chapter preview of the next book at the end of this one, because I feel like I just watched a cliffhanger season finale of my favorite TV show and now I have to wait for next season.
Yesterday my book, Fortune’s Favorite: Sir Charles Douglas and the Breaking of the Line, was released and is now available through many outlets. It’s about my 5x great-grandfather, Sir Charles Douglas, who was a British captain during the American Revolution. If you can’t find it at your local bookstore, it’s available through several places on Amazon.com. I’m not going to beg you to read it. Okay, I am going to beg you to read it. PLEASE READ IT! PLEASE! How’s that? Let me know what you think. Thanks!
My review of “Crossfire,” the sixth episode of Smallville this season, is up at Pop Syndicate. Check it out!
My book about my ancestor, Sir Charles Douglas, will be coming out very soon. More details later.
My review of “Roulette,” the fifth episode of Smallville this season, is up at Pop Syndicate. Check it out!

I picked up Blackbeard: Legend of the Pyrate King #1 from Dynamite Entertainment yesterday, and, man, was it good. As a naval historian, comic book reader/creator, and pirate fan, it was the perfect story for me: well-written, well-drawn, and a cover by none other than John Cassaday! The story is by Greg Halle and Eduardo Sanchez (of Blair Witch fame), written by Robert Place Napton and screenwriter Jamie Nash, with art by Mario Guevara. Who could ask for more? I highly recommend it.
