I Still Think it’s Gaeta…
•January 25, 2009 • 6 CommentsMaybe I’m just in denial because I was convinced that Lt. Felix Gaeta was the last Cylon for so long, but I still believe it’s going to turn out to be him. First off, there’s no real confirmation that Ellen is really the last Cylon within the show. Here are some possibilities:
1. Tigh had a false memory
2. Ellen was a Cylon, but she was an older Six model
3. Ellen was a Cylon, but something different than the others
One thing that has me thinking is the fact that the other four were all VERY anti-Cylon, and Ellen wasn’t (in fact, she collaborated with them, albeit to save her husband). With Gaeta about to start a mutiny in the fleet, he’s about the most anti-Cylon human alive right now. That’s exactly the kind of thing Ron Moore and company would pull on us to keep us on our toes yelling “Holy Frak! They did it again!”

Review of Battlestar Galactica (4.13) – “Sometimes a Great Notion”
•January 18, 2009 • Leave a CommentMy review of the return episode of Battlestar Galactica, “Sometimes a Great Notion,” is now up at Pop Syndicate. Check it! NOTE: Yes, it is number 13 because the two hours of the Razor movie had episode numbers 4.1 and 4.2 attached to it–I don’t contradict the people who create the show just because it would be convenient for me.
I Was Right… [SPOILER]
•January 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment…well, about them revealing Ellen Tigh as the Final Cylon in last night’s episode anyway. Now, the question is whether my theory about it being a red herring will be right. To be honest I’m not holding out much hope any more after reading the excellent article by the Chicago Tribune’s Mo Ryan, which contains interviews with Ron Moore, the writers of the episode, and the director.
As for what I thought about the episode, my review will be up at Pop Syndicate tomorrow.
One Last Thing About the Last Cylon… [Possible Spoilers]
•January 15, 2009 • 6 CommentsSince the identity of the final Cylon may or may not be revealed in tomorrow’s episode of Battlestar Galactica, I want to make one more prediction. From what I’ve seen and heard, I’m starting to get the feeling they may try to fool us with a false identification in the first couple episodes of Season 4.5, and then tell us later who it really is. There is a rumor going on that the final Cylon is female and already dead. That probably leaves us with either Cally Tyrol or Ellen Tigh (both of whom were on my “final three” list from an earlier post on the subject). Also, in one of the clues at SciFi.com, it appears that Lee Adama might be saying at a press conference that they believe the last Cylon is dead.
So here’s my theory: They’re going to tell us that Ellen Tigh was a Cylon and make us think she’s the last model. Then, later, we’re going to find out that Ellen was actually an older Six model, so even though she WAS a Cylon, she wasn’t the final humanoid model. THEN we’re going to find out it’s actually Gaeta.
Gaeta’s “Secret” Revealed in Webisode [SPOILER]
•January 7, 2009 • Leave a Comment
No, I’m not talking about the fact that Gaeta is gay (or bisexual), which was revealed in an earlier webisode. In the new webisode (Part 9) of Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy, it’s finally revealed in a flashback what the jailed Baltar said to Gaeta that caused Gaeta to stab him with a pen: “I know what your Eight did.” This is a reference to the new background we’ve been shown about Gaeta’s time on New Caprica, where he gave names of people to save to an Eight he started sleeping with. Only she wasn’t saving them, she was having them killed. According to this Eight (who happens to be stranded on the lost Raptor with Gaeta), he knew what was really going on, but was simply fooling himself.
I mentioned in an update to a previous post that one of the producers claimed in a podcast that the Geata/Baltar stabbing scene was a remainder of a deleteted subplot (and I also added that they’ve been known to deceive us before). So either they were trying to throw us off track, or they decided to ret-con the scene so it didn’t remain as a “dangling subplot.” With one more webisode left, I have to wonder whether they’re doing this just to prove Baltar didn’t whisper that Gaeta was a Cylon, or whether they’re trying to make Geata such a strong red herring that we’ll be convinced, just to be shot down when the truth is revealed.
